Mama of three (and über makeup artist) Mally Roncal believes in the power of a peppy shade of lipstick, plenty of concealer and a strong cup o’ Starbucks before school drop-off.
Chances are you’ve seen the complete whirlwind that is Mally Roncal beaming out at you from your television set. Not only is she besties with Rachael Ray, she’s also a massive star on QVC.
While a lot of her success is due to the sheer force of her (charming, funny, relatable) personality, the rest is due to the high quality and efficacy of her makeup line. She just flat-out makes great stuff. And after years of buffing and powder-puffing celebs, it’s really nice to see her emerge as a m-a-j-o-r beauty force to be reckoned with.
Oh, and to top it off, she’s a devoted mommy to three little girls, whom she regularly totes to her QVC gigs. “Yup,” she laughs. “It’s a real family affair.”
Luckily for you Momoverettes, I got her to spill her get-it-together beauty and wellness (and life!) tips.
Dana: How has your own personal makeup routine changed since having your tots? Do you do less because you’re crazed, or actually go all-out because it makes you feel peppier and more pulled-together?
Mally: It’s much more streamlined, which I think has been a good thing for me because it has enabled me to try new looks that I would not have done before. Before kids, I was always a crazy smokey eye and nude lip girl (which I love), but these can take some time to do. Now I go for beautiful illuminated skin with a pink or red lip, which is fun and gives me a new look that’s fast. I do try to mix it up though; it just depends on how the girls are acting that morning. There are days when they’re happy and chilling out and then there are days when they want my attention.
Dana: Your Mally Beauty line rocks, for two reasons: One, it’s genuinely original. And two, it’s completely “problem-solution.” From your own stash of goodies, what are your “desert island must-haves” – and why?
Mally: My new Cancellation Conditioning Concealer, Eye-Opening Brow Boost, Volumizing Mascara, Illuminating Blush System, and High Shine Liquid Lipstick in Mally’s Look. This is an easy way to get a pulled together look so that you’re not embarrassed to show up in at the school drop-off. For my life, it’s just enough makeup to make me camera-ready if I need to shoot a video blog.
Dana: Besides makeup, what other beauty & wellness To Dos are you still keeping up with since becoming a mom?
Mally: I do yoga twice a week and Pilates once a week. When I go to the UK for QVC, I always schedule a massage to unwind since I have to be away from my babies. I’ve also started a gluten-free diet this year which has changed everything for me. Plus I added protein to my diet, which I never ate. I was basically living the life of an “athlete” without the training (like most moms), so I consulted an amazing nutritionist, Jena la Flamme, and she’s changed my whole life. She taught me that every meal (or snack) needs to be consumed sitting down, and she also recommends taking three deep breaths before every bite of food. It makes a huge difference!
Dana: Any other words of wisdom for my mama readers?
Mally: You know that saying “You need to help yourself before you can help others”? I truly try to implement that idea in my life. We need to live for ourselves so that we can help our children and our husbands live a better life. More of us, as mothers, need to realize that. Also: Starbucks is my best friend!

I have a gluten free diet due to celiac disease. Are your lip products gluten free?
